How to finish RPL Romanian Point Lace
Once finished the following steps:
–Start RPL Romanian Point Lace
–Stitch cord RPL Romanian Point Lace
–Filling embroidery RPL Romanian Point Lace,
check twice if all the cord is basted, bridges (bars) are done, and if the ends of cord are secured and the interior embroidery is completed.
Next, take care of washing, starching and ironing the lace, still attached on basting fabric, as recommended here.
The support cotton cloth have the role of supporting the final project and will not be present in final lace result. Will be removed and can be reused if the pattern is still visible. If not, , lightly retrace the shape with a pencil. It is good to keep the cloth with the transferred pattern uncut, for a possible repetition of the project or maybe give it to someone who wants to learn Romanian point lace.
After completing the project according to the instructions and following the steps above, with an embroidery scissor, cut the pale sewing thread used to baste the cord, being careful not to pinch the cord or the embroidery.
Now that the lace is starched you can keep much easier the initial shape of the model. After the support cloth is separated from lace, the remaining threads are extracted from the finished model with tweezers or by hand, as delicate as possible. The starch can make thigs a little bit difficult but not impossible.
If necessary, prepare and iron the model again according to the instructions (link).
